The Sun Inn

A characterful 17th-century inn with a restaurant focused on seasonal British cooking and locally sourced ingredients. Particularly tempting for a proper Sunday lunch or a cosy dinner.

Family-owned and centred on Spanish, Italian and Mediterranean cooking: small plates, fresh pasta, seafood and steaks. There is a courtyard garden and dogs are welcome downstairs.

An established Main Street coffee house, patisserie and bistro. This is the daytime pick for breakfast, brunch, a good coffee or something sweet between shops.
The Royal Barn

Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery’s town-centre tap, serving its own beers alongside guest drinks, breakfast, lunch, sourdough pizzas, coffee and cakes. Choose this when nobody wants anything formal.
The Pheasant Inn

In nearby Casterton, The Pheasant is a traditional country pub and kitchen built around seasonal produce and classic British flavours. A useful option when you want dinner out of town but still very local.

The lodge has a proper kitchen and a dining table that deserves using. Pick up bread, local meat, cheese and a bottle in town, then let the evening happen at home.
Summerfield tip: shop before the hot tub. Ambition has a habit of disappearing afterwards.
