Dining room at Summerfield Lodge

The Summerfield guide

Eat well.
Walk home.

Kirkby Lonsdale punches well above its size for food and drink. Most of this list is in town, which means dinner can end with a short stroll back to the lodge.

Our local table

Coffee first.
Dinner properly.

We have grouped our picks by mood rather than pretending there is one “best” restaurant. Always check current menus and opening times, especially midweek and outside peak season.

Stay in.
Cook slowly.

The lodge has a proper kitchen and a dining table that deserves using. Pick up bread, local meat, cheese and a bottle in town, then let the evening happen at home.

Summerfield tip: shop before the hot tub. Ambition has a habit of disappearing afterwards.
