A little bit of history

Nearly two centuries of comings and goings.

Built around 1840 as the entrance lodge to the Summerfield estate, the Victorian sandstone building retains its hipped slate roof, mullioned windows and distinctive chimney stacks.

Neighbouring Summerfield House dates to 1841 and is attributed to Kendal architect George Webster. Both buildings are Grade II listed, preserving a setting that has welcomed travellers for nearly two centuries.

Walk. Soak.

The private hot tub waits just outside the lodge. Best after a long walk, equally good for doing very little at all.
